This 3-day Adirondack Adult Horse Camp is created specifically for absolute beginners. No riding background, no horse experience, and no special skills required. If you’ve always been curious about horses but never knew where to start, this is a welcoming, supportive place to begin.
Everything is taught from the ground up, at an unhurried pace, with safety, comfort, and confidence as the priority.
Adirondack Adult Horse Camp is located at Vertical Farm in Fort Edward, New York.
Over three relaxed days, you’ll be gently introduced to horses through a mix of groundwork, guided riding, and hands-on learning. You’ll learn how to approach, lead, groom, and communicate with a horse, then build up to riding in a calm, encouraging environment.
Instruction is clear, patient, and designed to help you feel at ease. There is no pressure to “perform,” and plenty of time to ask questions, observe, and move at your own comfort level.
Thoughtfully Designed for First-Time Riders
This camp is intentionally small so every participant receives personal attention and support. Activities are structured to help you feel safe and capable, even if this is your very first time around horses.
You’ll also learn off the horse—watching, listening, and gaining insight into how horses think and respond—so you feel more confident every step of the way.
The Adirondack Adult Horse Camp can be enjoyed by riding and non-riding participants. It’s a chance to slow down and enjoy a well-rounded, feel-good experience built around horses.
Your days will include gentle rider fitness sessions to help you feel comfortable and ready in your body, along with simple mindfulness moments that encourage presence and calm. Each of these experiences is designed to support personal growth, encouraging reflection, confidence, and a deeper sense of connection throughout the weekend.
Days are relaxed and social, with catered meals shared in an easy, welcoming atmosphere. Everything is designed to feel supportive, unhurried, and enjoyable. No pressure, no performance, just time to connect with horses, nature, and yourself.
Kiersten is a USDF Certified Instructor and Bronze medalist. Kiersten focuses on lesson in dressage and jumping but also enjoys sharing her love of riding and horsemanship with riders of all ages and experiences. Kiersten is an active competitor in dressage as well as jumping. Kiersten grew up in the Equestrian world of the Old Chatham Hunt Club in Chatham, NY. She is a licensed NYS Veterinarian Technician and is well versed in equine health and well-being.

The full 3-day Adirondack Adult Horse Camp experience is $1,000 per participant. Spaces are limited to ensure a personalized, immersive experience, so we encourage early registration to secure your spot.
